We offer Genuine Samson "Red Spot" sash cord in trade sizes #8 (1/4" dia.) and #10 (5/16" dia.). Sash cord is preferred for existing pulleys with concave wheels designed specifically for cord. Samson Cordage has been manufacturing sash cord and rope for over 130 years and their Samson slaying the Lion trademark is the oldest trademark in the country. It is a fool's errand to try to economize with the sash cord you choose. Experienced builders know to look for the trademark "Red Spot" woven right into the cord. The cord is braided cotton over a nylon core to increase strength and reduce stretching.

Please note:  95% of residential applications require #8 (1/4" dia.) cord. The danger in ordering a larger cord is not at first apparent. The problem arises from the resulting size of the knot used to secure the cord to the sash stile. #10 cord forms a knot that requires a hole with a diameter of 1" to 1-1/8". Often times, the hole bored into the stiles of residential sash are only 3/4" to 7/8" in diameter.
